E.D. kept the truck running, it was the only way to keep the windshield from fogging up. Both of the windows in the truck were up entirely and it was getting muggy.
"This is getting unbearable E.D. what are we going to do?"
"I don't know what we can do," he replied "I can't see enough to drive at all. I have sleeping gear in the back, but by the time we set it up, everything will be soaked including us."
Sam sighed and relaxed a bit into her seat. "Well, at least it seems to be tapering off, it won't be long until it stops, but I think it may be dark by then."
As E.D. opened his mouth to respond, a gust of wind shuttered the truck and the eyes in E.D.'s head opened to the size of saucers. "My god, I think that was just the eye of the storm passing," he looked over to Sam and continued "I really hope I'm wrong, but isn't that how it works?

I haven't forgot about E.D., he has some big plans, I just haven't had time to get it on here. Soon, that's all I can offer for now. :(
Dear Jorge,

I am sure a star like yourself has endless requests from your fans to meet and mingle with them, but I could never sleep another night if I didn't at least ask you and Beth if you'd like to attend our season finale party. A small, tightly knit group who have devoted their lives to LOST from the beginning, most from the states, some from Canada (myself included) and even some from the UK are meeting together in Texas for the finale May 18, 2010. There will be no media, no hassle, just some good friends, a buffet full of ribs to share and a big screen to watch the finale together. It would be an absolute pleasure for us all if you had the time and interest to come out and enjoy it with us. As I am sure that this would also be the absolute worst night for you to try to do anything you would want, my expectations are low to say the least, but I have to at least extend the invitation to you and Beth. You will never get anything in life if you don't at least ask or try.

Our plans are quite public at
http://www.stationzer0.com/lost-forums/showthread.php?t=7172
Feel free to check it out.

These people mean the world to me and I am afraid that after Lost is gone, some of our group will slowly dissolve. This is our last hurrah and will certainly be a great time to anyone who attends.

Hope to see you there,
XMOZZAZX

PS... Stay safe.

The sun shining on E.D. put him fast asleep, just like it did every other time he had stopped here. A few beer and a nap never accomplished much, but it was exactly what he enjoyed on these trips. Normally, he would have cast a line into the water and placed his rod between his legs in the chance a fish actually swam by. This time it was different, he didn't even think of fishing, he was mesmerized by Sam and that overly revealing outfit.
His thoughts of her swayed into his dreams and within minutes, the two were dancing along the water's edge, laughing and giggling. Intertwined, the two fell into the shoreline and shared a close encounter and although E.D. wouldn't kiss her, he passed his breath past her neck enough times, he knew he could have hearing her reaction as she sighed every time. His fingers made her tingle as he slowly ran them from her neck down her arms, but the reaction wasn't as expected.
"Why are you so sweaty" Sam asked pushing away and looking down at her hands.
E.D. looked down at himself in disbelief and noticed he was soaking wet with sweat. Panic swallowed his tongue and he pulled away looking around for an answer, only to notice that Sam was now wearing a sweater. 'What the hell?' he thought, 'where did that come from?'
His eyes surveyed the landscape and he turned watching as it changed. There were no trees swinging to the rhythm of the breeze, only dark dead shrubs and sand as far as he could see. He panicked further and turned back to Sam, but she was no where to be seen, neither was the river. It had been replaced by a small ravine of dead leaves and twigs that must have come from the shrubs. E.D. started calling for Sam, but his voice only squeaked. Running around the desolate sandy dunes, he looked and looked for Sam, but only found more sand until eventually he fell to his knees. Thunder clapped loudly and E.D looked up only to find a clear blue sky. He was beyond confused, how was that even possible he thought. The wind howled loudly and the sound of rain was deafening, he even felt the raindrops, but when he looked around, again everything was clear and bright, but he could even feel the wet on his skin now.
"Hey. E.D. HEY!" he felt his arm being pulled.
"Come on, what are you doing?" Sam's voice echoed in his mind as he opened his eyes. The sun had been replaced by dark, ferocious storm clouds and as he sat up, he realized he was soaking wet. Water ran down his face as he rose up out of the truck box furiously, as if the storm clouds had attacked him.
"Come on, get in" Sam yelled as she jumped into the truck and slammed the door, rolling the window up immediately.
E.D. shook the rain from his face and rounded the truck corner managing to get himself inside as well. The seat was puddled and E.D. knew why, he had left the windows down in an attempt to air out the cigar smoke. Sadly, now most of the interior was drenched as well, he noticed as he hurriedly rolled up his own window. Sam had grabbed her bag on her way into the truck and was now wiping herself down with a towel. E.D. watched her wipe off her arms and neck, but when she had finished wiping off her face, he knew he had been caught staring as their eyes met. Sam didn't seem to mind, but stopped briefly. "Did you bring a towel for yourself?" she asked as she tucked her chin down and placed the towel over her shorter blond hair. E.D. felt stupid now, he knew he'd get caught and now he was afraid of what Sam might be thinking about him now that he had been.
"Uh, yeah. I think it's right back here,"he replied as he turned behind his seat uprooting the bags. He dug around for a minute until finally revealing his towel and he turned back to the wheel wiping the remaining rain from his face as well. The windows fogged as they finished drying off, so when he was finished E.D. started the truck.
"So what do we do now?" Sam asked.
"Well, maybe we should carry on down the road further until this rain stops." he replied, looking out at the dismal sky through the side window after wiping it with his towel.
"I think that might be best" Sam replied wiping off hers as well.
The heater in the truck made short work of the moisture on the windshield and E.D. throttled his way back out the trail toward the main road. He didn't offer any conversation and pretended to be overly involved in driving for the first few minutes, but finally his thoughts and nerves had the best of him.
"I didn't see the sun disappear" he said bravely looking over at Sam
Sam shook her head, "Me either. I was poking around the shoreline looking at all the lovely colored stones when it hit." Sam giggled as their eyes caught again. "Did you fall asleep back there?"
E.D. didn't want to admit he had, but didn't know how else to explain things, "Yeah, just briefly. I guess I was just too relaxed back there."
"Oh that's ok," she replied "we're probably going to have a long night, so it's probably best you did."
The storm settled down into only a steady rain as they drove on, the wind seemed to follow suit and soon it was just foggy as the moisture burnt off the road into the sky. E.D. had to slow his driving as the visibility lessened until finally he had to stop as it worsened.
"Wow," he said "I've never seen fog develop like this before."
"No, me either" Sam shook her head in agreement. "Do you know where we are?"
"Um, yeah. We should be real close to that little road side cafe, but I don't know if I should be driving in this." He pointed out the windshield motioning to the fog.
"Maybe you should just pull off the road for a while and let this fog lift." Sam offered.
E.D. pulled slowly up the shoulder of the main road until he found a side road. It didn't look very well traveled, in fact he wondered why he didn't remember it. Most side roads out here had some sort of sign at the main road indicating what they were for, even if they were just from logging. The two crept along excruciatingly slow until they found a clearing.
"Let's just park here for a bit" Sam pointed at the clearing.
E.D. nodded and pulled into the spot, centering the truck between two massive white pines.

Ok, time to regroup, reread and see how badly I hate that all.
Oh my. He he he he he he. He said, he did, he, he, he,

Need some more character development, but I did plan on using the lack of it in my story. Hmmm, how to do both.
The twist in this may come too late, so far this sounds like a lame love story of sorts, but it wasn't the intent, just got carried away with my thoughts.
My foreshadowing is lacking, even though I know what it is, until I watched the Lost Season 1 Pilot episodes, I didn't appreciate it. I need to drop some key questions in the interaction earlier on and foreshadow what will transpire. Heh heh.

Winding up the road, E.D. realized he forgot his cigar. He reached over to the glove box and pulled out the box, struggling to do so with the wheel in his other hand. Sam recognized his attempt and helped him get it open. She pushed away his hand and when E.D. looked at him she nodded away from him and he withdrew. The cigars were fresh and still stuck together slightly, so Sam laid the box on her lap and carefully took one out. She put it in her mouth and bit off the end, much like E.D. had done on the past. 'What a woman' he thought, 'I'd never had expected that.' Through cigar filled lips, Sam just smiled and reached over motioning for a lighter. E.D knew where it was and passed it over to her, and proceeded to watch her light it up. The cigar lit up and puffed out smoke as she pulled on it a few times, finally passing it over to E.D. She smacked her lips and smiled watching E.D. place it in his own mouth and notice the sweet flavour from her lip gloss. He just smiled and looked over at her, relaxing back into his seat.
"So how does this work," she asked "we drive until that thing is gone?"
E.D. shook his head no, "not quite, I usually make a turn when I get half way"
"Ahh, I see. How about this time you drive until it's gone, then we'll turn."
E.D. wasn't opposed to the idea, it would put them further up north before they went exploring. He had always threatened to do just that, but never did. "We can do that, but I think I might need to stop for a beverage before that"
Sam just laughed. She winked at E.D. and turned in her seat toward the back. "Well, I don't see why we need to stop already." she said opening the cooler. Two beer in hand, the sweat off them running down her arm, she sat back into her seat and then opened one, placing it between E.D's legs. "There," she said "now we're good to go."
E.D. was amazed again. He always sucked on suds along the way, but with all the hype of drinking and driving in the news and such, he never did that when he had company, which is probably why he usually never took anyone with him. E.D. sat back in the seat and drove. Cigar in one hand, beer between his knees and a knockout in the truck beside him. There was a god after all.
The two drove another hour or so, before Sam turned down the stereo again. 'Here it is' E.D. thought, 'here's where we ruin it all by talking about Oprah or something.' He turned to Sam only to see she had removed her top. Certain that he would hit the ditch, he slowed down. "WOW" he uttered in amazement, "whatcha doing?"
"Just getting comfortable, hope you don't mind. I wore my bikini underneath in case we found somewhere to sunbathe. The sun is shining on me over here and I'm hot."
E.D. couldn't agree more. She was hot. She was more than hot and he couldn't believe that she had looked so different in the store before.
"No problem, no problem at all. There's a little spot just up here where the rivers meet up, maybe we can stop for a bit. My butt won't mind a break." he pointed up the road and looked over at Sam.
"That sounds great!" she replied seeming very eager at the idea.
After checking out Sam for what probably seemed like an inappropriate amount of time, E.D turned back toward the road, only to realize he had crossed lanes. He veered back into his lane and looked back at Sam in surprise. She was just sitting back relaxing, watching out the side window drumming her beer can with her fingers to the beat.
After another couple of minutes, the river was beside the road. Sam took notice and sat up in her seat looking for the spot E.D. had mentioned. The next turn revealed a tiny little trail that E.D. turned into. It wasn't a road. It looked like the animals had used it briefly as a path, nothing more. E.D. knew of this place, he had walked it before and knew it was nothing he couldn't handle. He also knew that the interest in someone following behind him would be nil. most people would think he was nuts for even attempting it. After a short while of the branches scratching down the paint, the path opened up into what appeared to be an old logging road. It was bumpy, but it wasn't long before they pulled up to a beautiful spot with a rock jetting out in to the river overlooking the junction of the two rivers.
"Here we are Sam." smiled E.D.
"Oh my," she sighed "it's beautiful here."
"Quiet too!" he added. Sam just smiled and opened her door as the truck stopped. E.D. had backed into a nice spot that allowed the tailgate to face the river.
"I always stop here for a short while, sometimes I don't go much further than here actually, especially if it gets hot and the beer starts tasting good."
"I can see why" replied Sam "I've never seen anywhere like this before.
Sam walked down to the shoreline as E.D. dropped the tailgate and pulled the beer cooler closer. He had his gear organized so that the softer bags were at the back and that was by design as he climbed his butt onto the tailgate and laid back onto them cracking open another beer. He watched as Sam waded into the crystal waters and looked around in amazement. E.D. just watched her and wondered if this could possibly get any better.

Morning struck in the window bright and early around 6:00. There was never a need for a clock in the bedroom, E.D. never slept past 6:00, no matter how late he stayed up and he hated it. Anxiously, he paced around the kitchen preparing breakfast while sipping his over sized coffee cup. normally he would eat very little on these trips and rely almost solely on the beer for the caloric intake he required. E.D. had a different food pyramid than most on a good day. Grabbing up a pen and paper he sat to make a list. He didn't forget about the food, just figured he better bring more than normal. After several minutes of marking things down and then scratching them off, he decided to just go to the grocery store and get cracking. Those decisions could be made as he shopped.
Walking through the garage eyeballing all the equipment in the back of the truck, E.D. seemed satisfied with the night's preparations. He was ready for this, right after he filled that last cooler with some grub.
The garage door swung shut as E.D. pulled out onto the street. The cd collection he had put together wasn't really very well suited, but he only had his style of music and made mental note to tell Sam that it was quite limited depending on her style. A new choice for the morning was in order and he flipped through them at the next stop sign. Satisfied with his choice, he plugged it into the deck and carried on down to the store, thumping all the way, his head swirling around to the beat. A quick glance at the time shook him up a bit, he didn't want to be late, he better get moving. Zooming around the store, he picked up what he considered more acceptable meal items to have for the weekend. E.D. could cook, but never did just for himself as he hated doing the dishes. This trip he would be different though and he was prepared to do whatever he had to in order to make it work. Bags of groceries in hand, E.D. hastened his pace out to the truck. Packing everything in the cooler and leftover spaces, he jumped back in and headed to the 7/11. looking in the mirror to fix his hair, he realized that he hadn't shaved.
'Damnit' he thought, 'I could have at least shaved. Oh well, too late now, I'm here.'

Pulling in the parking lot, E.D. scanned the cars looking for Sam. She wasn't here yet, but that was understandable, he was actually still a bit early. Truck parked, but running, E.D. stepped out to check over his stuff in the back. Pushing the cooler back into place, he looked up and spotted Sam walking across the road, back pack in hand. She hadn't noticed him yet and gladly so for E.D. as he was probably drooling. It was warm out for this time in the morning and Sam was dressed appropriately. Tight shorts and sandals, with a very revealing cut off top, Sam looked amazing. E.D. stared in disbelief, never realizing how gorgeous she actually was, until she finally spotted him. A smile across her face, she walked over and gave him a poke in the arm.
"You ready?" she asked.
"I think I am." He stammered trying not to stare at her any further.
Sam leaned over the truck side and looked for a spot to place her bag. E.D. melted as he watched her shirt slide up her back revealing a tiny tattoo on her luscious hip. He couldn't believe this, couldn't believe that this gorgeous creature was about to take off for the weekend with him, not knowing what to expect, not knowing where he was even going.
"Ok here?" she asked
"Anywhere is fine," he almost whispered "anywhere at all." E.D. realized his staring and coughed slightly to hide the fact.
"Well, I'm ready, is there anything we need that I can get along the way?" Sam headed around to the passenger door as she asked.
"No, oh, well, maybe music, I don't have much selection in music. You'd better make sure there's something in there you can tolerate." E.D. headed toward the drivers door and pointed toward the cd case on the dash.
The door opened, Sam reached in and scooped out the case. Flipping through it, she smiled. "No, this is just fine, I like it. I have some in my bag as well. I'll pull it out when we stop later."
"Ok then. I guess we're ready" E.D. replied as he slid into the seat.
Sam slid into the passenger seat and took a quick look around at the setup. She reached up and opened the sunroof, "Does this come out?" she asked.
"It does, why?" he questioned.
"Oh I might have some fun later and poke myself out there." she mused.
"Cool, I've never done that, I might have to give it a whirl as well." he chuckled.
Sam just giggled, sat back in the seat and seemed ver relaxed, unlike E.D. who was a bit more on edge. Sam reached over to the cd player and turned up the music. Liking the beats, she turned it up louder and started grooving along to the riffs. E.D. was in love. She not only liked his music, she played the air guitar just like he did. Suddenly he was much more relaxed and
proceeded to hit the road, he was always an aggressive driver, but this time he was much more normal and just poked along the street, north towards the outskirts of town. Sam reached over and turned down the music briefly, pointing at the Beer Store.
"Can we hit there before we go?" she asked, "I had to work late last night and missed out on stocking up."
"Certainly" he answered, " I had to stop there anyways."
Stopping in the front, the two jumped out and headed in. E.D. purposely followed behind, just to watch Sam's ass as she walked toward the door. He was still in disbelief that he was awake. The doors opened wide and they continued to the counter.
"Gimme a box of Bud Light" she asked as she pulled her card out of her wallet.
"Better make that 2" chuckled E.D., surprised by her taste. "What are the odds eh?"
The woman behind the counter rolled her eyes as she went back and shot out the 2 boxes.
"I've got that" Sam offered, "you've already done your part, it's the least I can do."
Unsure of the proposal, E.D. just nodded, it was exactly what he would expect form a buddy, but he felt all wrong about it now, but bit his tongue. 'No expectations' he repeated in his mind 'Treat her like a buddy, treat her like a buddy.'
E.D. grabbed up a box thanking her for the gesture and followed her back out to the truck.
"There's ice in the blue one, I'll throw some in there for later." he said as he opened the tailgate.
"Cool, pass me a few through the back window there and I'll load the one in front" she giggled.
E.D. was surprised by that, first she noticed the little cooler, but more importantly, she knew what it was for. Secondly, it was against the law to have that there and E.D. had to debate that with every other companion before. Sam wasn't opposed to it at all, in fact, it seemed to be natural to her for it to be up there. He was impressed.

Tailgate shut, Sam in the seat, E.D. hit the road again. His face had never wore a smile this long before and he was more than happy, he was ecstatic and he showed it. Sam glanced over and smiled, moved her seat back a few notches and relaxed as they headed North again, toward what most people considered nowhere.

Driving home, E.D. had planned things out, he looked around his truck and realized it needed some attention. He couldn't have company in here for long drives without changing a few things. Normally, he was alone in the truck, he never used the passenger seat for passengers, it was for the beer once he was far enough back there to not worry about the cops., but now that wouldn't work so well.
Pulling in his driveway, he hit the button for his garage door. He loved that thing, it was the best thing he had ever purchased on a whim. Backing up to the door, he realized that all his normal habits would be askew. He would have to rethink everything. What about sleeping arrangements? Did she realize what she was in for? E.D. chuckled to himself as he unloaded his normal gear. It wouldn't support a couples outing. E.D. stopped dead in his tracks. Couples? he wondered. Jesus, what had he gotten himself into. He didn't ask anything about what she would bring nor had any clue what to expect. E.D. found himself questioning his questioning until he finally convinced himself that whatever were to happen, he could only do his best. He relaxed a bit and replaced his sleeping gear with more suitable stuff. He kept in mind that as much as he wanted to share a sleeping bag, he had no idea if that were going to happen at all and going in he wanted his expectations to be left behind. It was just the companionship he wanted, not a relationship necessarily, someone that liked what he did, instead of what he had found before, like his ex-girlfriend. She liked sushi and private parties that were to say the least, boring and not his style at all. E.D. hated getting all fancied up for nothing and figured that was why his relationship with Beth never worked. He kept it going longer than he wanted, but in the end chose the right path in ending it. Beth moved on in life and maintained a quiet friendship with him, but allowed it to digress into more of a hi, how are you type of friendship. He knew he better play this weekend slow and make sure of what he was getting into. This time he just wanted someone to have fun with.
E.D. finished packing his things, and had them all organized in the back in waterproof containers. The weather man was never right, but the threat of rain was in the sky, so he wanted nothing to ruin his weekend. Replacing his personal tent with a bigger one just in case it was necessary, along with more than enough gear for the two of them to be comfortable separately, he snuck in a bottle of bubbly wine. 'That stuff might be handy later' he mused to himself grinning. looking around at all the gear, he hoped Sam wasn't planning the same way, they'd better discuss that in the morning. Pulling out his cellphone, E.D. realized the time. It was late. He had better park the truck and get some sleep. That 12 hour shift was about to take it's toll on him anyways, there would be time in the morning to revisit everything.

A quick bite to eat, thanks to Mr. Micro Wave, E.D. was ready for sleep. The bed swallowed him as he lay back and within minutes, he was asleep. E.D. never slept so well, normally he would toss and turn forever trying, but tonight sleep came easy.

The Beginning

E.D. was on his way home from work when it all took place. He wasn't planning on the events that transpired, he was just going home to sit down, kick his feet up with a six pack and relax. He didn't get many weekends to himself, but when he did, he always made the best of them. E.D. wasn't like other people, he was his own type, his own style. He didn't bow to society in their ways, he went his own direction, wherever he chose, whenever he wanted. This weekend was his, he had an open slate for the three days and planned on a cigar weekend. What he always enjoyed doing was starting the day with just that, a cigar and letting it determine the path for the day . There were always weekend amenities in his truck, a pillow and blanket, some water, some snack foods and other items of usefulness. He had been left in some wild places with nothing before and found it made more sense to have those things on hand than to wish he had them after he found the need. This weekend, he planned on some serious driving and maybe some fishing if it came along the path.
Peeling the tires into the parking lot of the 7/11, he came to an abrupt stop just inches away from taking that already loose spoiler off the front of the truck. It wasn't much of a truck, a little 4x4 extended cab he bought off Ebay for this very type of weekend and he treated it as such. The dents and scrapes on it each had a story to be tell and he made a point to leave them there as scars of his past endeavors. E.D. jumped out, leaving the truck running, as he wouldn't be long inside. He pranced into the building grooving to the music blaring out of the windows of his weapon. He always announced himself that way and like the attention it brought. His steps marked the beats and his sway followed the rhythm to a tee. Now being it was Friday night, the store was already rather busy, so he just grabbed up his things and headed straight to the line at the counter. Beer under one arm and some rather interesting snacks under the other, he stood there still bopping his head to the beat that was resonating through the walls. He had purposely chose that disk, knowing when the off beats were and made subtle motions when they hit. The girl behind the counter was obviously not having a good day, she normally wore a smile, at least when E.D. was in there, but today, it must had fallen off. She seemed grumbly with the customers, which was odd. She was normally very kind and happy, almost to the point of making E.D. wonder what drugs she was on. As another customer approached, E.D. moved up in the line, now paying much more attention to her revealing blouse. He always liked how her cleavage poked him in the eyes, but he always tried to avoid it as he didn't want to appear perverted. Tonight though, he just had to keep peeking, he was drawn to her more than normal. The line shortened and finally E.D. was next. He wasn't in a hurry, but didn't want to piss any one behind him off, so he kept his normal flirtatious manners in his pants and just tried to get Samantha to smile. "What's shaking?" he blurted as he approached, "I see your smile fell into your shirt there" he head gestured toward her, hoping it would break the ice. He had flirted with her many times before, but never got a bite. It was like his fishing, it never proved fruitful but always brought a smile to his face. E.D. smiled hard through his somewhat weathered face, but didn't even get a response from Sam. She just looked him in the eyes and repeated the price on the register. "$42.45." His wallet in hand and ready, he flipped through the bills, not broadcasting the fact he had money, but portraying the fact he wasn't at all worried about carrying such amounts. He always kept too much money in there, but never missed a deal when it came along. 20's came out and change made with not another word between the two. Even the people behind him sensed that things weren't quite right. 'What was going on' he thought to himself, 'this isn't her normal self at all.' Change in hand, he moved aside and shuffled his snacks in his bag while eyeballing the store just under the brim of his hat. There were some shady looking guys hanging around the office door, but that wasn't out of place, there were always people back there, the night manager must have had a little side business running or something. Satisfied that Sam must be just having one of those days, he returned out to his truck, again wiggling his ass to the more upbeat tunes broadcasting in through the doorway. After holding the door for the next guy, he started organizing his things in the truck. He had done this before and knew how it was done best. Not surprisingly, everything had it's own spot. He was that organized, always had been. Beer went in the cooler, snacks in the cab. Even the cigars had a special spot in the glove box. E.D. reached in the bag for the cigars realizing he had forgot them. "Damn it," he cursed himself "now I have to go back in there." He closed up the doors and headed back inside. The lineup was smaller now, but still, now he had to wait again. He wore his disappointment on his face, even his butt wasn't wiggling quite like it had been. 'How can you look cool when you're an idiot' he thought, pulling his wallet out again. He busied himself organizing his cards as the line drew on. Quicker than he thought, he was back up there. Avoiding eye contact as much as possible, he requested his cigars, but much to his surprise, they were already sitting on the counter. That was odd, they always kept them under the back cabinet, probably the worst place they could be.
"I knew you'd be back" Sam smiled in saying.
E.D. was floored. She was smiling now? Why, because he was an idiot?
"Uh. Thanks, I must have had something else on my mind" he returned.
"Well, you usually do" she grinned, passing over the box of cigars and popping open the till.
"I see you found that smile of yours again, that's much better" he quipped grabbing up his change.
Sam fussed with her pants a bit "Well my weekend just got a bit quieter."
"How's that?"
Through an even bigger smile, Sam (*said*) "I'm off now until Tuesday night, I was supposed to work, but the new guy wants next weekend off, so we traded. I just found out." She mussed her hair a bit as if there was something out of place, but there wasn't.
"Well, that's a turn for best, now isn't it." He smiled now as well.
"Well, it could be. You're going out fishing somewhere aren't you?" she asked.
"Um, yeah. I have a long weekend this weekend myself." He stammered showing his lack of preparedness for the conversation, but kept his composure.
"Want some company?" she asked
Jaw now hanging, E.D. was wearing his surprise on his sleeve. Sam knew this was out there, but she wanted to do something this weekend, not sit around like she had in the past.
"Of course, what did you have in mind?" he managed.
Sam looked at her watch and then leaned closer to E.D. It was apparent she was relieved in his answer.
"I can be ready anytime after 8 tomorrow morning" she said "I'll have to get a few things together, is that ok?"
"Sounds like a plan," E.D. scooped up his cigars "but uh, where should I pick you up?"
"Oh, I just live across the street," she motioned out the window "can you just meet me here?"

E.D. thought about it briefly, more to gather his senses, he was sure he was going to blow this somehow.
"Certainly," E.D. backed away smiling " see you in the morning then."
"I'll be ready," she winked "see you then"

His steps almost staggered him into the potato chip rack behind him as he departed, he was happy, confused and overly worried now about what had just transpired. He was thinking a million thoughts as he paused in the doorway and looked back at Sam. She was serving another customer, but noticeably much more relaxed and happier than before.
E.D. managed his way back to his truck, the music no longer in his steps, he had more on his mind now for sure.

Where is this stemming from? Well, recently I participated in an online rpg. That's a role playing game for you outcasts. In this one, it was a mix between the story of LOST, namely the DHARMA Initiative and the party game assassin tossed together with various other aspects of other games and rules. If you want to see it, just check out www.battlefortheisland.com
I didn't play, I helped behind the scenes organizing the game for the players. Although I was primarily there for the graphics end, I did write a few posts and found myself wanting to do more. Even now that the game has ended, I still go back and write little pieces just to amuse myself and the odd person who must be as bored as I.
Anyways, my intent is to utilize some of that games directions and mix it up in my own little way. I don't have a preplanned story in mind, but I have several small ideas I want to get out there. One of them is to include a choose your own adventure style. I fell in love with those as a child and until just recently, never gave them much further thought. One of the other moderators was hoping to utilize this style in the game, but he wasn't able to continue for issues I guess he was having. When he mentioned it, I was surprised, as I had just recently joined a 'Choose your own' site and was very excited by revisiting my youth in it.
The area I am most uncomfortable with in writing, is the tense. I always flip lop around in it, not so much in writing like I am now, as it is me talking to me, but when I try to storyline. If you see it go all loopy, keep in mind again, that I am intending on making sense of it later, but am getting what's in my head out, so that it can refill as I go back and edit.

An opportunity to write came across my desk. I'd never considered doing any sort of writing, especially if it were to be read by any form of the public, as I didn't believe I had anything close to what was needed to do such a thing. After giving it a whirl, I was surprised by the acceptance from it. I think it sparked a creative side of me that I didn't know was in there. I've painted in several different fashions, with a brush on canvass, with a spray gun on my truck and even by painting delicate toys with my daughter. In order to paint, you need to sketch, so I did that as well. I always enjoyed the doing, but was never satisfied with the end product. There were always areas I didn't like, but when you paint, you can't just erase what you don't like. My creativity spawned over to photoshop, it was painting, but came with an eraser. I still photoshop paint and love it, but I still am unhappy with everything I do, there are always little things that don't turn out right to me. I guess writing won't be any different, I'll still see things I don't like, but as I noticed with the painting and the photoshopping, I was a quick learner and enjoy it every time I get the opportunity. Writing requires less. It's just me, my thoughts and a piece of paper or a blank screen like this one. When I sketched in my paintings, I had an idea in mind, but very rarely had the image in my mind, when I did though, it always was nice to see it come to life. I guess that's all I want out of writing, to see my thoughts and ideas out there somewhere, if for nothing else, for myself to read, so I can learn how to do it better.

I strive on constructive criticism, feel free to pass on a thought or an idea as I go along. Keep in mind though that I learned already to let the words fall onto the page and to go back after and edit it into the proper form. If you read something that just doesn't make sense right away, that would be me puking my thoughts out there, so that I don't lose the idea. I'll go back after and pretty it up.

So. I guess I'll start.
